This article is about the best hair extensions to wear to a wedding in 2023.

So the whole world has been shut-in for just over a year and as we start to peek our heads outside again, what happens? WEDDING SEASON!

All those brides and grooms who had to postpone their nuptials are champing at the bit to get themselves hitched, and I, for one, am here for it!

Whether you are the bride, bridesmaid, or just a guest to someone else’s special day, weddings are a fabulous excuse to get all gussied up and put your best foot (and hairstyle) forward!

Hello, I’m Bianca – I love weddings, big hair, and pretty dresses. I’ve been wearing every type of extension and experimenting for about 15 years now.

I have boldly gone where hairdressers recommended I shouldn’t, and have accumulated experience and knowledge to share in abundance!

My favorite extensions for a variety of styles and ease of use is Sunny Clip In Remy Hair Extensions as they are beautiful, soft, versatile, and easy to wear.

If you aren’t a fan of clip-ins, I have another two recommendations up my sleeve. So whether you want to rock an elegant updo or a boho beach beautiful, long, and textured style – I have an extension recommendation for you.

Quick Summary

3 Best Hair Extensions for Weddings

In this section, I will go over my top picks for the best hair extensions for weddings, together with a detailed review for each option.

Sunny Clip In Remy Hair Extensions

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 7 pieces, 18 colors
  • Extension length: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24 inches
  • Volume: 120 grams per pack
  • Best for: Overall

Sunny Clip in hair extensions uses high quality Remy hair , the hair goes through minimal processing means that it can be dyed darker but not lighter.

The Sunny clip-ins are thick to the ends, so the hair is relatively thick, but do note that all the packs are 120 grams. 12-inch packs as well as 24-inch packs. This means that when you hit 18 inches and above, you need to budget at least 2 packs.

The Sunny clip-ins are my overall winner in my review as they are very versatile and can work in updos as well as long and loose. They can be used to create thick and luscious braided hairstyles as well as boho beachy ones.

So from wedding guest to bride and every wedding goer in between, this is a great purchase for wedding season and can be utilized again and again for some truly versatile and jaw-dropping looks.

Sunny offer 18 base colors that can be made into solid, balayage, ombre, and highlight extensions for you. Also, if you would like a 200 gram set of extensions, these are happily made up for you from a halo 11-inch weft and a clip-in set. Just contact customer service, and they can get a custom set out to you in a few days.

The one point I would like to highlight when purchasing this pack is that it (VERY weirdly) comes with only one single clip weft. One… not two. So you can’t clip one on either side of your head like usual.

I’m not sure quite what I’m expected to do with that, but I bought two packets, so it evened out. However, if you were to buy one pack, you may be as confused as I was!

Sassina Remy Halo Hair

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 29 color blends
  • Extension length: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 22 inches
  • Volume: 12″ (80g) 14″ (90g) 16″ (100g) 18″(110g) 20″ (120g) 22″(130g)
  • Best for: Updos

Sassina halo extensions are amazing, particularly if you are doing a braided updo. From diagonal french braids to sleek chignons, this thick and soft weft can be used to amp up the volume of your hairstyle by clipping it in different ways.

I like this weft, particularly as it comes with a fishing line as well as some sturdy clips. Sew the clips onto the ends, and you have a solid weft of gorgeous Remy hair to use as you please.

And can we please take a minute to talk about 29 colors? There is literally something for everyone in this color palette. From adding highlights to color matching with your own hair, Sassina has outdone themselves again with their color choices.

The one thing is, if you are using the fishing line method for holding your weft in place, there’s a little piece at the end that stands up. Sassina responded by saying it’s part of the design, but for the cost of these extensions, you’d expect them to lay flat.

If, however, you are sewing clips on the ends for an updo that totally negates this problem!

GooGoo Tape in Extensions

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair
  • Extension length: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24 inches
  • Volume: 50 grams per pack
  • Best for: Long and Loose

Oh GooGoo, how I love thee. Let me count the ways.

But seriously, I love this brand so much. Their hair is amazing! It’s thick, soft, and long-lasting, and it comes in such beautiful colors!

16 sweet, silky, creamy, delicious color blends for you to look at and a range of lengths. All the packs are 50 grams, so I would suggest you stick to 18-22 inches at most and budget for 3 packs of hair for the extra WOW factor.

GooGoo’s ethos is doing just 3 extension methods but doing them really well, and they also have excellent customer service. They offer less, but what they do offer is executed flawlessly. And if you disagree, they have lovely people to talk to and an easy returns policy.

The hair is long and healthy Remy hair that doesn’t shed. It is very soft and can take quite a bit of punishing in the heat styling department before it goes frizzy, so treat it well and you could reuse these for about a year.

One thing I will say is the tape isn’t that strong. Honestly, I would invest in a strong tape and retape them before the first install.

Best Hair Extensions for Weddings – Buying Guide

Here are a few things to take into consideration when looking at hair extensions for a wedding.

Up or Down?

Before you try and work out which hair is best, try and decide which hairstyle you would like to wear to the wedding. Updos do really well with clip-in extensions.

Long and loose styles work well with tape-ins as they can take you from the wedding aisle to the honeymoon (or wedding guest to the hotel room if it isn’t your wedding).

Longevity

If you have a particular look in mind, and you only want to wear it on one occasion at your wedding, then synthetic hair is also a good way to go for updos.

You can get around that “unnaturally shiny” look by adding a bit of dry shampoo. Synthetic hair is brilliant to do complicated French braiding patterns in and is very comfortable to wear in a braid, as it isn’t fixed in, rather braided into place.

FAQs

Here are some commonly asked questions relating to hair extensions for weddings.

Are hair extensions worth it for wedding?

Absolutely yes if you don’t have the thick and long for achieving your preferred hairstyles. You don’t need to spend any effort in dyeing or maintaining your hair before your wedding because hair extensions can add instant volume, and you can choose your desired color.

Besides, most hair extensions can be reused many times if you take good care of them.

Do brides wear hair extensions?

Yes, many brides wear hair extensions, especially those with thin and short hair or those who don’t want to dye their hair. These brides tend to use hair extensions for adding thickness and length to their hair.

My Verdict

Sunny Clip In Remy Hair Extensions are gorgeous, versatile, and can be customized in a myriad of ways! They are easily the best extensions to wear to a wedding this wedding season.
