The Best Ombré Clip In Hair Extensions Reviewed
In this section, I will go over my top picks and detailed reviews for each one.
- Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 7 pieces, double drawn, durable weft
- Extension length: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 inches
- Volume: 120 grams per pack
- Best for: Overall
LAB.EH Hair extensions come in a wide range of ombré colors and a range of lengths. The ombré colors generally start from chestnut to darker browns and ombré out to caramels and dirty blondes. There are a few options for lighter blondes, but if you have darker roots, this option is for you.
The wefts are thin, lightweight, and easy to hide. The clips are specially made and colored to blend seamlessly, so no one will suspect you are wearing extensions unless you want them to!
The hair itself is Remy hair and silky soft. The wefts are double drawn to the ends and have a gorgeous natural bounce to them, so the hair moves beautifully with you.
Should anything go wrong with the clips, there are spare clips sent along in the sturdy presentation box.
If you have thicker hair, I would suggest getting 2 sets, no matter what length you get.
- Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 7 wefts with silicone clips
- Extension length: 14, 16, 18, 20, and 22 inches
- Volume: 105 grams per pack, plus 15 grams clips
- Best for: Fashion Colors
Vario is such a phenomenal hair brand. They are definitely one of my favorite extension providers. The Remy hair is good quality and never mixed with anything else.
One of the best parts of getting ombré extensions is the freedom of being able to add highlights to your hair without bleaching your hair or committing to a particular color. This is especially true if you have dark hair and want to add fashion colors such as pink, gray, or some other rainbow hue!
I personally think this chestnut brown to pink/gray color ombré set of clip ins offers you the best parts of ombré hair extensions. This is such a beautiful color that you could purchase these and look gorgeous regardless of ethnicity or skin tone as they have that universal color match.
As long as your hair is chestnut on top, you’re good to go!
Now, as these extensions are thinner than most, these should not be bought with the intention of adding length, however, if you have shoulder-length or longer natural hair, you can place these and curl your hair to a devastatingly beautiful effect.
So if volume with a pastel highlight is what you’re after, these are the way to go.
- Key features: 100% Remy human hair, thick to ends
- Extension length: 14, 16, 18, 20, and 22 inches
- Volume: 120 grams per pack with 7 pieces
- Best for: Classic Caramel Highlights
The classic ombré look is still in and will be around for a while. The problem with this trend is permanently bleaching half your auburn locks blonde, so it is quite the commitment.
Clip ins circumnavigate this problem beautifully, allowing you to add those gorgeous blonde ombré highlights and still keep your healthy, auburn tresses.
Lash Up has been in the extension game for over a decade and started out as a co-packer for some famous hair extension brands, so they know about creating strong, durable wefts. They also attach the best clips to make sure your extension experience is light, comfortable, and easy.
The hair itself is 100% pure Remy and not mixed with anything else, however as the ends are bleached blonde, that shortens the shelf life of your extensions considerably. Expect to get about 3 months of solid use out of them, more if you wear them and heat style them less often.
Guide to Buying Ombré Clip In Hair Extensions
Here are a few things to take into consideration when looking at different brands of ombré clip in hair extensions.
Most ombré extensions start with quite dark brown roots, so remember to make sure your roots are just as dark as the extensions you are buying. If in doubt, always go for a lighter root than a darker one. It’s easier to dye extensions hair darker than lighter, and it’s easier to hide the lighter clips in lighter hair.
Dark clips and dark wefts in lighter hair will create a harsh line and look unsightly.
Also, if you buy your extensions with your roots too dark you will have to try and lighten the roots, which is tricky, and you will have to switch out the clips for lighter clips too, which is a major headache.
If you are really stuck, do remember to take a picture of your hair and ask the extension brand to help you choose. They will sometimes send a spare set of lighter clips to make sure you get exactly what you need.
It’s All In The Clips
When you look at building something, you look first at creating a solid foundation.
So too, when looking at building a larger volume of hair, should you look at building a solid foundation.
Machine made wefts are important, and the clips are just as important. If they are not securely attached, placed correctly or colored right it can lead to them slipping, damaging your hair or just looking unsightly.
I personally prefer the stainless-steel clips with the silicone coating. These give you a firm grip while protecting your hair from damage and making it very unlikely for the clips to slip.
Another thing to pay attention to is where the clip is sewn onto the weft. If it isn’t flush with the corners, you can bet your bottom dollar that sucker is going to curl up at the ends and poke through your hairline after a few wears.
And clips, unfortunately, do break. So always ask if you can get a few extra clips or if they give you extra clips in your set. The hair brands usually do, but it never hurts to ask.
The LAB.EH Clip In Extensions are gorgeous as they cater to those who have a lighter root and a darker root. The hair is gorgeous, and the colors are blended beautifully, so you don’t have that harsh line you can sometimes get with ombré extensions.
