Don’t you just love the effect you can get from hair extensions?

Hair extensions can be as long as you want them to be or as short. They can take your hair from thin and lanky to thick and full in a matter of minutes!

Hello, and hello to you, I’m Bianca, and I’m a self-confessed extension-hair addict! In my 15-year-long hair extension journey, I have tried a myriad of methods when it comes to extensions. From clip-ins to tape-ins, from Brazilian knotting through to sew-ins, I have tried, tested, and loved them all (well, most of them!).

From my many hours of research and testing, I have come up with GooGoo Remy Tape In Hair Extensions  as the best cheap, Remy hair on the market.

GooGoo has phenomenal customer service, quick delivery, and response times, and the hair itself is absolutely brilliant and of very good quality. As such, they have managed to recruit an army of fans.

However, not a fan of a tape-in? Don’t you worry your soon-to-be-extra-gorgeous head. I have gathered super-affordable hair extension options from a few different methods, so there’s something here for everyone.

Quick Summary

4 Best Cheap Remy Hair Extensions Reviewed

In this section, I will go over my top picks for the best, cheap, Remy hair extensions, together with a detailed review for each option.

GooGoo Remy Tape In Hair Extensions

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 20 pieces
  • Extension length: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24 inches
  • Volume: 50 grams per pack
  • Best for: Overall

Those who have read my work before will know that through my experiences, I am firmly in the “TAPE-INS FOR LIFE” camp, so I admittedly might be a little biased here. However, these tape-ins are GORGEOUS!

As these are very affordable extensions, they are all about 50 grams, so if I could make a recommendation, it would be to get the shortest set you can as that will be the thickest. That way, you can add volume to your hair with one pack. If you want to add volume and length, you will need up to three packs, which will push up the cost.

Depending on the amount of hair you have and the look you’re going for, you will need between 40 – 80 tapes for a full head. I personally have fine hair (but lots of it), and my natural hair is about 2 inches past my collar bone. I like super thick, 22-inch hair (Mermaid for life, friends!), and I tend to use 60 tapes for a full head.

As the hair quality, color, and extensions themselves are so fine and well-made, these extensions are perfect for smooth, sleek hairstyles, people with fine hair, people with short hair, and people who have normal to thick hair too.

Adding length and volume will need three packs, which makes this particular extension method the most expensive on the list, but it is a very inexpensive list so that’s not particularly a bad thing.

Full Shine Clip In Extensions

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, seven wefts with 17 clips
  • Extension length: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24 inches
  • Volume: 80 grams per pack
  • Best for: Clip-In Hair

These clip-ins are luscious, gorgeous, and silky smooth. Made from 100% Remy hair, they are long-lasting and super soft. They are also double drawn and thick to the ends, which means they add major length AND major volume!

Yes, please!

Even after multiple washes, these clip-ins do not shed, and with proper care, you can get up to 12 months of use out of them!

One of the best things about these clip-ins is the company Full Shine. They have one of the best customer service departments you could ever hope to deal with. They offer lifetime after-sale service, free advice, and consultation before you buy the hair, and as such, have lifelong fans who sing their praises.

The only downside is that at 80 grams, they are a little on the thin side. But even buying 2 packs, they still come in cheaper than some other brands!

YILITE Halo Hair Extensions

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 1 long halo weft
  • Extension length: 14, 16, 18, 20, and 22 inches
  • Volume: 14” – 18″(80g), 20″ – 22″(100g)
  • Best for: Halo Extensions

Halo hair extensions are reasonably new to the mass market, and there are still those who are wary of them. However, they are actually brilliant once you get the hang of how to wear them. And once you start wearing halo hair extensions, you’ll want to wear them daily.

These YILITE halo hair extensions come in a variety of lengths and colors and can blend well with most hairstyles, whether blunt cut or layered.

They are soft and last up to a year with proper care. Even after a couple of washes, there isn’t a lot of shedding from the wefts.

The halo they come with is adjustable to suit many hairstyles and give a seamless look. It is also very sturdy and stays in place all day. The best thing about this extension method is that you can wear halo extension every day with no damage to your own hair, unlike clip-ins.

The one thing I would be wary of when purchasing these extensions is if you have thick hair, or you are trying to add a lot of length, is that you may need two sets. Now, two sets of halo extensions may be uncomfortable, and they may not be as secure. There is a way around this by adding clips to the wefts.

UGEAT Microlink Micro Loop Hair Extensions

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 50 strands
  • Extension length: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24 inches
  • Volume: 1g per strand = 50 grams / strands per pack
  • Best for: Microlink Hair Extensions

These microlink Remy hair extensions are lovely and soft. They have very little shedding due to the way they are bound to your natural hair, and they are one of the longest-lasting extension methods around, with one application lasting 2 – 3 months depending on hair growth.

For a full head, UGEAT Hair recommends 300 – 400 strands, but I wore microlink hair extensions for years and I usually had 200 – 250 strands for a FULL head application. I think we can say categorically that I like big hair, so when I say I had a full head, it was a full head.

My extensionist said however that my head isn’t particularly large, so if I had a bigger head, she would have put more on. I would recommend starting with 200-300 strands and working with your extensionist to see how best to apply them to get the look you want.

The hair can tend to be a bit thin towards the ends. But, these extensions are up to 24 inches long, so an easy fix to get these extensions “thick to end” grading would be to cut 2 inches off and that should give them that full look. Also, you may need to spend more time repairing your natural hair because microlink extensions tend to cause more damages to your hair compared with clip-ins and halo hair extensions.

Guide to Buying Cheap, Remy Hair Extensions

Here are a few things to take into consideration when looking at different sets of Cheap, Remy Hair extensions.

Quality

Some Remy hair is not great quality and to get the cuticles all facing the same way, people will just process the hair to death and the cuticles will be burnt off entirely. It can be quite tricky getting a straight answer out of people, especially if the hair is going at a cheaper rate.

One solid fact to hang on to is if you can dye the hair darker.

If you can color the hair darker, then it is true Remy hair, lightly processed and collected properly from one, perhaps two donors.

Quantity

This list is focussing on cheaper Remy hair brands, but it doesn’t mean I’m recommending poor-quality hair!

However, when knocking down on price, something has got to go, and with good quality hair extensions, it is usually quantity.

So, there are two ways around this.

Firstly, buy double. Most of the time it still works out more cost-effectively than other brands. Secondly, buy shorter hair, closer to your own length for volume as opposed to length.

I personally would rather have lush, full, healthy shorter hair than long, scraggly, thin hair.

How to Take Care of Remy Hair Extensions

Here are some tips for maintaining your human hair extensions so you can extend their lifespan.

  • Brush, detangle, then wash your hair extensions regularly.
  • Always wash your hair extensions with cold water.
  • Choose suitable hair product, always pick alcohol-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free shampoos, conditioner, and treatment
  • Apply hair oil, leave-in conditioners, deep conditioners regularly
  • Store your hair extensions only when it is dry, keep them in a dry, cold place, check this article for the proper storing method
  • Avoid wearing your hair extensions to swim and sleep. If you are wearing semi-permanent hair extensions like tape-ins, sew-ins, comb them gently, and wrap them in a silk scarf before you go to bed

FAQs

Here are some quick answers relating to the best cheap Remy hair extensions.

Is Remy Hair human hair?

Remy hair is human hair with the cuticle still intact. It has had some color processing done to it, but otherwise should be fairly healthy.

When it comes to wigs and hair extension, virgin hair, remy hair, and human hair (or non remay hair) are all made by human hair, just different grades.

How do you check to see if it is Remy hair?

First off, you take a few strands of hair and wet it a little with a few drops of water.

Slide your fingers up and down the wet hair shaft – one way should glide, while the other way should give a little resistance.

If the hair does this, then it is Remy hair.

You see the cuticles lay flat when you slide your fingers in one direction (where the cuticles lay flat), and when you slide the other way you are going against the cuticles (the resistance).

If it glides both ways easily, the cuticles have probably been burnt off with chemicals, and the hair will not last long.

My Verdict

I am, and forever will be, a “tape in” type of girl. I think the bond is so seamless, and they are so comfortable to wear.

For that reason, I think the GooGoo Remy Tape In Hair Extensions  is outstanding quality, outstanding value for money, and the best overall. I would recommend getting a length close to your own and 2 packs, if you can.

Have you tried any of these extensions? What was your experience?
