This article is about the best halo hair extensions available in 2021.

Halo hair extensions haven’t been around that long, but they are certainly gaining in popularity. They’re an interesting hybrid between sew-in extensions and clip ins. Not as versatile as clip-ins, and not as permanent as sew-ins.

So who am I? Well, I’m just your average extension-obsessed, wig-wearing, theater girl from London. I’ve been playing with extensions, wigs, and more for the last 15 years, and I’m here to share my insights into Halo extensions today.

Ladies and gentlemen, for your consideration I would like to present the GooGoo Remy Halo as my personal Best Overall. GooGoo is a brand I know and trust, as do a legion of other fans, due to the consistency of the quality and the care they put into each hair creation they make.

In particular, the chocolate to blonde balayage Halo has taken my fancy, and I’d like to take a closer look at it with you in this article.

Have a particular shade of Halo that isn’t listed in GooGoo? Need a thinner weft or extra-thick hair? Don’t worry – I’ve got you covered!

Come on, let me show you what I found!

Quick Summary

The Best Halo Hair Extensions Reviewed

In this section, I will go over my top picks for the best halo hair extensions, together with a detailed review for each option.

GooGoo Remy Halo

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 1 piece
  • Extension length: 12 – 20 inches
  • Volume: 110 grams
  • Best for: Overall

As I briefly touched on above, GooGoo is a brand that is consistently delighting its customers with great quality hair which is long-lasting and super soft. The hair itself is of high quality and thick to the ends.

The weft is well made, using a machine, and it is double drawn for a consistent thickness from the weft to the ends of the extensions.

GooGoo has opted to put both a fish line and 4 silicone-coated clips to give you options on how to wear the Halo. I prefer to use both if I’m wearing them for a long time, but you can decide which method works better for you. The clips are sturdy and help the Halo latch onto your head for a comfortable fit that will not slip.

To be perfectly transparent, I love this Halo and think it is of exceptional quality, however, there are very limited options when it comes to colors. This is frustrating because only offering 11 colors isn’t really catering to a wide audience, and the rest of the GooGoo range has a much larger variety of colors to choose from.

Fshine Hidden Halo

  • Key features: 100% human hair, 1 piece
  • Extension length: 12 – 20 inches
  • Volume: 80 grams
  • Best for: Ombré

Fshine Halo extensions offer 12 different color options, making it one of the more robust offerings on this list. They cater to ombré, mixed, rooted and straight colors.

The hair itself is of good quality and very soft. It doesn’t shed at all, even after a few washes. I didn’t see a single split end, and it has maintained a natural shine and silky texture after multiple wears.

The wefts are double drawn and are made out of breathable lace, which is both easy to wear and comfortable over long periods. The wefts themselves are incredibly well made, and the clips are very secure.

Like GooGoo, Fshine have given you two methods for securing your Halo, with clips and fish line.

At 80 grams per weft, this is the thinnest Halo on this list. I would strongly recommend this Halo for highlights and volume. If you are looking for length and volume, you will be sorely disappointed, and this is not the Halo for you.

Wennalife Human Hair Halo

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 1 piece
  • Extension length: 12 – 20 inches
  • Volume: 100 grams
  • Best for: Comfort

Wennalife has created a wonderful Halo extension that is incredibly well made but also well thought out. This reflects in the packaging which includes spare clips, spare fish wire, instructions, and a complimentary set of eyelashes.

The hair itself is silky soft and remains tangle-free when you wear it. The hair holds a curl well and has a lovely bounce to it when you walk.

Even though the Halo is a very respectable 100 grams, it feels comfortable and light on your head. Wennalife has gone with a well-designed lace weft for increased breathability. Coupling this gorgeous lace with well-crafted clips makes this an easy hairpiece to wear.

The color range isn’t massive but if you are lucky enough to have a matching hair type this is a very wise purchase as then darker colors can be worn for up to a year, and the lighter colors topping out at 9 months. Of course, this is with proper care and limited heat styling.

The only con with this Halo is that it doesn’t adjust down too well. If you have a smaller head, then you would normally assume adjusting the strap to the smallest setting would solve the problem.

Not so! It causes a whole new problem! The track starts to buckle when adjusted smaller, making unsightly bumps in your hair, which is literally the opposite thing you want when it comes to extension tracks.

Bottom line. This Halo is not for narrow-headed humans, so measure 10 inches on your crown prior to purchasing this to make sure you have enough headspace for this Halo.

Sassina Human Hair Halo

  • Key features: 100% Remy human hair, 1 piece
  • Extension length: 12 – 22 inches
  • Volume: 120 grams
  • Best for: Thick Hair

Sassina comes to you offering the gift of an amazingly thick and swishy Halo, especially for all you lovely readers with thick hair or looking to add some length. And with an offering of 30 different colors to choose from, there is something for almost everyone here.

So firstly, let’s talk about the presentation. I really liked the box that they came in and felt like I was getting a quality product from the get-go. I also liked the thank-you note and complimentary comb, hair clip, and spare silicone clips that come in the box with the instructions.

When you open the box and take the extensions out, that luxury feeling is reaffirmed by the softness, thickness, and shiny locks that await you. The weft itself is also very well-made, and the hair is double drawn, so it is thick from root to tip.

There is an odd construction issue that I thought I would mention. The wire ends a little before the end on one side, so that part of the Halo has a tendency to flap up. However, they include silicone clips in the box which you need to sew on, and then the flap will be clipped to your head securely.

Why you have to sew it on, and you can’t just use the fishing line alone, is beyond me. However, if you can see past this 2-minute inconvenience, this is a brilliant choice as the hair is wonderfully healthy and swishy, and the Halo is by far the thickest one out there. Which I think is a great selling point.

Guide to Buying Halo Hair Extensions

Here are a few things to take into consideration when looking at different Halo hair extensions.

Halo, Can You ‘Ear Me?

Halo extensions are brilliantly simple to use and small time investment to get a really good hair day. But the placement of these is key.

The most uncomfortable thing is if you have the Halo touching your ears or just behind them. The weft becomes irritating and can be very uncomfortable to wear as the day wears on.

Most Halo’s come with an adjustable strap however, that strap, when adjusted to the smallest setting, can cause the track to be bumpy and unsightly.

Before you run into this issue, measure your crown. The simplest way to do this is to take a piece of string and start a thumb’s width on top of one ear and wrap the string to the same point on the opposite ear. Take that string and measure the two points on a ruler.

If the measurement is very close to 10-inches, you’ll be fine with a standard-sized Halo. If it is off by an inch, either way, you may do better going with the traditional clip ins.

Getting Back To Your Roots

The weft of a Halo hair extension is very important as it is not only the backbone of the hairpiece, but it is also a potentially harsh line that has to be hidden with your own hair.

When picking your Halo, pay close attention to your root color and the Halo root color. That is the most important color match of all, and certainly much more important than color matching the ends.

The ends have a tendency to blend well if the colors are similar, especially when the hair is curled. The roots are the tricky part, especially when you have one long solid piece running through your hair.

Match the roots and the ends are easier to tone or dip1669-color if necessary.

My Verdict

The GooGoo Remy Halo is a sturdy, brilliant Halo that stands up well to long periods of wear and has minimal shedding due to the sturdy wefts. With its flexibility in how to wear it, it is both comfortable and versatile. The hair is also swishy and bouncy, which is exactly what you want from your hair (natural and extension).

Is there a Halo extension that you think I should review?
