This article is about the best Indian human hair extensions available in 2023.
Indian hair is used in many types of extensions, but when it is advertised as Indian hair it is usually also advertised as Virgin Grade hair. This is because religious beliefs usually prevent the donor from coloring or processing the hair.
This means that Indian hair is also usually thick to incredibly long lengths and very strong.

The Best Indian Hair Extensions Reviewed
In this section, I will go over my top picks and detailed reviews for each section.
QTHAIR Virgin Indian Hair
- Key features: 100% Indian human hair, 3 bundles, and a closure
- Extension length: 16, 18, 20 inch bundles, and a 14 inch closure
- Volume: 100 grams per bundle
- Best for: Overall
QTHAIR is well-known for offering a good selection of virgin hair from different parts of the world. Their range of Indian hair bundles is ranked at 12A, which means very good thickness through to the ends.
The Indian hair is strong and thick until the ends, making it of exceptional quality and long-lasting. One set of this hair can be used for around 12 months.
The lace closure included is made of medium brown, Swiss lace and is between 125% and 130% density. The closure also has baby hairs to give you that gorgeous natural look and soft edges to frame your face.
The longer you want your style of hair, the more bundles of will need, however as the grade of the hair is 12A, even at 26 inches, you will only need 4 bundles.
For the insane length of 32 inches, it is recommended to get 5 bundles.
BLACKMOON Indian Bodywave Hair
- Key features: 100% Indian human hair
- Extension length: 24, 24, and 24 inches
- Volume: 100 grams per bundle
- Best for: Bodywave
BLACKMOON offers a 3 bundle pack of Indian hair which has been given a bodywave.
The BLACKMOON hair has machine-made double wefts, which are thick and strong. This means that shedding is kept to a minimum. So the wefts are durable and the hair itself is of phenomenal quality. With good care, both the wefts and the hair will look amazing for at least a year.
BLACKMOON pride itself on collecting their hair from a single donor. As it is Indian hair, this means that it is usually collected at one of the temples by experienced people. This is good to note as the hair is well taken care of throughout its journey to you.
This is one of the reasons extra-careful divas manage to get up to 2 years’ wear out of a single batch of hair! When you do the math on the potential value you get out of this bundle, you can see why it’s made its way onto my Recommended List.
This set is wonderful quality from BLACKMOON however they sell the closure separately, so make sure to order one if you need to.
Beauty Forever Body Wave Indian Hair
- Key features: 100% Remy human hair, thick to ends
- Extension length: 20 and 22 inches
- Volume: 160 grams per pack
- Best for: Highlighted
Beauty Forever offers a range of Indian human hair from Virgin to Remy quality. I like this Remy quality hair as it has a bodywave to it, and it has a gorgeous ombré/balayage effect. So if you want that celebrity style, big-hair, red carpet-worthy glam look – this is it. And it’s so easy to maintain when it has a wave to it!
Their color is subtly highlighted and, as the bundles are sold individually, you could buy one or two bundles either in the same color or in B2 black to get a depth to your hair which always looks so chic.
The wefts are well-made to minimize shedding, and the hair is thick to the ends. The hair is graded at 10A quality, which means the ends are a little thinner. An easy fix for that is to order hair an inch or two longer than you want and get your hairstylist to trim your hair once you’ve had it installed. Then you will have thick-to-ends perfect hair.
There is a 30 day “no questions asked” return policy with free returns, but only within the US, unfortunately. Otherwise, if you are outside the US, it may just be cheaper to keep the hair and order a new set if you aren’t happy with the hair, for whatever reason.
Guide to Indian Hair Extensions
When buying Indian hair extensions, there are a few key things to keep in mind.
Know Your Terms
If they say it is Virgin Hair, all the hairs are collected from the same donor and have never had any chemical processing done.
Only virgin hair can be dyed to a lighter color, so the best way to find out whether it is virgin hair is to cut off a few hairs from your wigs and dye them into a lighter color.
If the hair becomes soft, weak, and fragile, then it’s probably non-virgin hair.
False advertising is always a red flag for me, so Buyer Beware.
Most Indian hair is Virgin hair as the Indian culture and traditions say the hair is sacred, which is amazing. Just make sure to know your terms, so you aren’t paying extra for Virgin hair when it’s Remy hair and therefore should be a little cheaper.
Hair Grade
When it comes to wigs and hair extensions, there is no universal standard at all, which means different sellers are having their own hair grading system. 5 years ago, 5As are considered as the best quality, then hair shops realized this, so they developed the 6As, 7As, and now we have 12As.
A 7A hair extension from manufacturer A can come with much better quality than 12A hair extensions from manufacturer B.
Try not to rely on these hair grading systems to determine the quality of your hair extensions, dye a few hairs is always the quickest and best method to tell the quality of a wig and hair extension.
Closures
With Indian hair, it is usually Virgin, as discussed above. As that means totally unprocessed, the black of one bundle can vary very slightly to the black of another bundle. Make sure if you need a closure piece with your bundles to request one that is as uniform in color as possible.
This will get you the most seamless hairstyle and best bang for your buck.
FAQs
Here are some commonly asked questions relating to Indian hair extensions.
Is Indian hair extensions good quality?
Because of the culture in India, Indian ladies tend to keep their hair til very long, then sacrifice their valuable hair to the gods. That’s where the best quality hair – virgin hair comes from.
And because these are the gifts to the god, Indian ladies tend not to bleach, dye, or use any tools to damage the hair quality.
That’s why genuine Indian hair extensions usually come with very high quality.
Is Indian hair better than Brazilian?
Suppose you have read our article about where do human hair extensions come from. In that case, you will probably understand that nowadays, “Brazilian hair extensions” are more like a marketing slogan than these hair extensions are coming from Brazil.
Brazilian hair extensions usually refer to hair extensions with tip-top quality. Very likely, these are virgin hair extensions as well. Just the hairs can come from India and South East Asia.
So it’s difficult to whether Indian hair is better than Brazilian hair because there is no standard. You should better perform some tests to compare the quality, like cutting off a few hairs from each extension and dyeing them.
