Having very long hair comes with its special aura. It gives you a dazzling look that makes you feel like a princess in all your outfits. Although it adds great beauty to your appearance, long hair can become a daunting task when you need to put on a wig cap.

My name is Tee, and I’ve got quite lengthy hair. Over the years, I’ve had to try several ways to make it minimal whenever I want to put on my wigs. Today, I’m a guru at packing my long hair into a wig cap, and in the sleekest way possible.

Wig caps always come in handy for the protection of your hair and also to keep your hair strands compact when you’re not going out. To avoid any form of loose hair strands from flying around, a wig cap is a way to go.

Irrespective of the length and volume of your hair, there is a wig cap out there for you, and in this article, I’ll show you how best to wear a wig cap without any hassles. Let’s go!

Materials Required

Here are some basic materials that you need for a great outcome.

Wig Cap: This is the major material needed for this procedure. A nylon or mesh wig cap with an opening at both ends is best suited for this procedure.

Hair Brush: A hairbrush is needed to straighten and comb your long hair to avoid any knots and tangling.

Elastic Hair Bands: These elastic straps are needed to hold your hair together. It could be a home sourced rubber band or elastic hair bands from your hair stores.

Bobby Pins: You need pins to firmly hold down your hair.

How to Put On a Wig Cap with Long Hair (2 Best Methods)

Here are my most recommended methods to put on a wig cap with long hair:

Method 1 (With Nylon Wig Cap)

Here’s a step-by-step method of putting on a wig cap if you have long hair.

Step 1: Split your hair volume into two halves, then use your brush to straighten one part of your hair thoroughly.

Step 2: Braid the brushed part of the hair from the top to the bottom. Then use a rubber band to tighten the tip of the braided hair to make it firm.

Repeat the procedures above on the other half of your hair. This will leave you with two neat rows of braided hair.

Step 3: Take one of the braids and roll it around your hair from behind to the front. After, secure the end of the braid (or the tip you’ve rolled round) with a bobby pin. Attach this to your hair. Repeat for the other half of the braid.

At this point, your long and voluminous hair is well-rounded and packed. This is a style on its own if you want to rock it!

Step 4: Now get your nylon wig cap and gently wear it on your hair. And try to tuck the extra loose strands of your hair outside the circumference of the wig cap inside.

Method 2 (With Open-ended Mesh)

Here’s another method to help you wear a wig cap if you’ve got long hair. You’ll need an open mesh cap for this.

Step 1: Wear your mesh wig cap around your neck, and far beneath your long hair. Make sure all the strands of the hair are above the wig cap.

Step 2: Adjust the edge of the wig cap with a band to align with your hairline. Then shift your hair into the remaining portions of the mesh wig cap, through the hole at the other end.

Step 3: Smooth your hair into the mesh to make it level, and help it become as flat as possible. Then you can twist and knot the mesh wig cap in the middle, to close the hole on top.

Step 4: Due to the high elasticity of the mesh wig cap, you will have some excess mesh left after closing the hole. Now, wear this excess mesh wig cap on the initial layer of the mesh and smooth it out until it fits.

Step 5: Tie the elastic headband around your hairline, from your forehead to the back, then use your bobby pins to hold it down or knot it tightly to prevent the elastic from slacking.
